RBI for RBI Scholarship REMINDER

This is a reminder that the RBI for RBI Scholarship is live and the deadline for RBI participants to apply is April 28th.

Attention all Longball players who will be 2022 High School graduates and planning to continue their education in the fall. The RBI for RBI Scholarship annually awards twelve (12) RBI participants with an annual scholarship of $5,000 that is renewable up to 3 years after the initial installment.

Instructions to Apply:

1. Go to https://aim.applyISTS.net/RBI. Click the “Don’t have an account? Register!” link and follow the instructions to create a new account or log in to an existing account. You should then be redirected to the application form. Note: If you are instead directed to the ISTS Home Page, click the Add New Application button, enter the Program Key RBI, and click Apply Now.

2. Complete all required fields, upload your required documents, request your online recommendation, and submit your application.

2022 Season Assessments & Draft

The 2022 Season player assessments and draft will be held Saturday, April 9th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Crest Street baseball field. Come prepared to play ball.

There is a $50 registration fee to be paid at assessments or to the coach at first practice.

Register Today for a FREE Instructional Clinic!

Baseball and softball players ages 5-14 in your community are invited to attend a FREE instructional clinic on Saturday, August 21 and Monday, August 23 with experienced staff from Ripken Baseball, courtesy of the Central Carolina Chevy Dealers! Special needs participants of all ages are welcome to attend.

Due to COVID-19, spots are limited, and this is an RSVP-only event. All participants must complete an online registration using the instructions below. On-site registration will not be allowed as it has in previous years.

The clinic is open to kids of all skill levels – Participation in a league is not required to attend. Qualified coaching staff will separate participants into age groups and rotate them through drills to learn and enhance essential baseball and softball skills.

Due to limited session time, we are unable to accept late check-ins.

  1. Go to chevy.com/youthbaseball
  2. Click on the gold “Clinic Registration” box
  3. Select the following name from the drop-down menu: Raleigh and then click “Go!”
  4. Enter the registration password “playball” for free entry into the clinic, and then click “Submit”
  5. Complete the registration form and download the waiver. In addition to registering before the event, participants are required to bring a signed waiver form to the registration table on the day of the clinic
  6. Please check your email (including your spam) for your registration confirmation

Mid-Atlantic Regionals

On-the-spot commentary by Pat James:

The junior team made it to the championship game with a 3-0 records to play Pittsburg. They played them Saturday morning at 8:30 and was trailing the entire game but came back in the last inning to win 6/7. Our team had 20 errors on the turf fields and 8 walks to finish 2nd.

The senior team played Pittsburg and came back to win 7/8. Unfortunately that was their only win for the weekend but it was better than Pittsburg who didn’t win any. Our seniors placed 4th in Regionals.

Three players went out of the park Elijah Quintero – junior team and two senior players Alex McAlmon and Tyler Spruill.

Durham Triple Play League is taking part in the 2021 Chevy Youth Sports Program!

Hendrick Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac Southpoint is sponsoring a test drive program. The test drives to support Durham Triple Play League must be done on Game Day Tuesday, July 6th at 6:00 PM. To set up an appointment for your test drive just sign up when you arrive on Game Day. Our goal is to get at least 20 test drives to get the grant to fund our program.  This program will help gain funding for Durham Triple Play League. Please support this effort and take a test drive today! We’re counting on you. Thank you..

Longball Seniors Win RBI Mid-Atlantic Regionals

The Longball Senior team won the RBI Mid-Atlantic Regionals the weekend of July 20th and will go on to play in the RBI World Series in Florida in August.

Congratulations to the Durham Senior Long Ball team! They won the Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament recently hosted in Durham and will be flying to Florida to participate in the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) World Series from August 4th-9th. This is the first time in 30 years that Major League Baseball has hosted a regional tournament in North Carolina.
