The mission of Long ball is the pursuit of the following principles:
- Commitment: Long Ball wants to inspire friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and instill a sense of hope in the future.
- Responsibility: The focus of Long Ball is to empower youth in establishing goals and following through on commitments.
- Possibility: Long Ball wants to expand the perspective of young people to make them aware of life’s possibilities – both on and off the field.
- Support: An individual is dramatically influenced by their support system. Long Ball wants to surround young people in a caring, inclusive learning environment.
To give these young men the necessary tools they need in order to be successful on and off the field. We want to level the playing field in the classroom as well as the baseball field by finding free academic support and professionals in the baseball industry that are willing to share their knowledge and skills with these young men. Now we have eight teams, four 13-15 and four 16-18 all competing for the season and tournament titles. We promote respect for self and others, accountability and reward academic success and challenge all our players to strive for a 3.0 or above GPA. We promote community service and have them mentor the players in the younger league by hosting free conditioning clinics. All coaches, staff, parents, players and fans have to adhere to the rules, no sagging pants, no profanity and no taunting the players, coaches or umpires. We want our events to be family friendly so that the players understand that this is truly a safe haven. You never know what a child has to endure at home, in school or on the streets but at a Long Ball Event, they know the focus is on making sure they enjoy themselves.
